Im Juni wurde Alena zur Tendence Talents eingeladen und gewann bei dieser Gelegenheit den 2. Hessischen Staatspreis für Kunsthandwerk. Gratulation!

Vielen Dank allen Besuchern auf der Echt 2018. Drei Tage in den sehr schönen Räumen des Haus Elisabeth in Berlin Mitte. Alena stellte natürlich aus und Hannes hat Plakat/Einladung/Diashow entwickelt.

It has been a blast at LOOT! Being invited to participate, preparing for months, getting there with hardly any English knowledge, it all has been a crazy ride. To be then awarded the inaugural acquisition prize almost sent me right out of Manhattan again and straight to the moon! What a wild week this has been with so many encounters, such good customers and so much support from everyone. Bryna and Michele have been wonderful and welcoming. And the reception of my work felt really great!

Shannon R. Stratton, Chief Curator of the Museum of Arts and Design, announced this week that designer Alena Willroth has been awarded the inaugural LOOT Acquisition Prize on the occasion of the sixteenth edition of LOOT: MAD About Jewelry, the Museum's annual exhibition and sale of designs by international emerging and acclaimed jewelry artists.
"This year, we wished to formalize our previously unpublicized practice of acquiring works from LOOT Jewelry artists into the Museum's permanent jewelry collection," said Stratton. "The LOOT Acquisition Prize seeks to recognize a LOOT jewelry artist whose work reflects maturity in artistry and concept, exhibits superior and experimental understanding of materials and form, and demonstrates expertise in technique and execution. Alena's unusual technique and the sophistication of her pieces really interest us. The necklace we chose is sculptural in nature and fully resolved as a work. There is no sign of a clasp or any other indicators that you might associate with jewelry. It is arresting to look at, and fits with the rest of our collection."

Zum zweiten Mal endet das Ausstellungsjahr in der Handwerksform Hannover mit der Christmas Edition, mit der Kunsthandwerk in Vollendung näher gebracht werden soll. Erneut wurde eine ganz besonders edle Schau zusammengestellt mit Exponaten, die sich durch eine besonders exquisite Gestaltung und kenntnisreiche Materialverarbeitung auszeichnen.
